Custom Plastic Cold Bending Services | 13+ Years Expert Manufacturer

Cold Bending Services for PC & Acrylic Sheets

Cold bending is a highly efficient non-thermal plastic fabrication process where plastic sheets (such as Polycarbonate) are mechanically curved or folded at room temperature without applying heat. This process eliminates the risk of thermal stress, color fading, or material degradation, making it an ideal and cost-effective solution for structural and protective components.

We professionally provide premium sheet cold bending processing services. Utilizing advanced CNC bending machines and precise braking tools, we process high-quality materials including polycarbonate (PC) sheets and PETG. We can customize high-precision machinery guards, industrial protective shields & covers, construction safety panels, and electronic equipment housings.

We support custom designs according to your drawings (STEP, DWG, DXF) or samples. From prototyping to high-volume production, we offer a true one-stop service including laser cutting, edge trimming, hole drilling, and final assembly.

Key Advantages of Cold Bending

• Precise and consistent bending angles
• No thermal stress or discoloration
• Cost-effective forming method
• Suitable for large panel bending
• Maintains excellent clarity
• Suitable for both PC and PETG
• Ideal for protective covers and enclosures

Materials & Technical Specifications

  • Polycarbonate (PC): The absolute best material for cold bending due to its extreme impact resistance and flexibility.

  • PETG: Excellent for thinner gauges and food-safe applications.

  • Note: Acrylic (PMMA) and PVC are generally NOT recommended for cold bending as they are too brittle and will crack without heat.

Thickness & Size Range

  • Thickness Range: 1mm – 6mm (Standard cold brake bending)
  • Minimum Bend Radius (R): For Polycarbonate, the standard minimum cold bend radius is safely calculated as 100 X thickness (e.g., a 3mm sheet has a minimum radius of 300mm).

Maximum size depends on bending radius and material type.

polycarbonate sheet applications

Applications

  • Industrial Machinery Guards: Clear, high-impact protective covers for factory automation.

  • Architectural Glazing & Skylights: Curved canopy panels and safety windows.

  • Sneeze Guards & Shielding: Heavy-duty security barriers for banks, retail, and law enforcement.

  • Equipment Housings: Simple, clean-lined covers for medical and electronic devices.

FAQ

Q: What is the main difference between Cold Bending and Heat Bending?

A: Heat bending uses localized heat to soften the plastic before bending, which is ideal for tight, sharp angles or brittle materials like Acrylic. Cold bending is done at room temperature, strictly for high-impact materials like Polycarbonate, avoiding any thermal stress or optical distortion.

Q: Can Acrylic (PMMA) sheets be cold bent?

A: No. Acrylic is a brittle thermoplastic and will shatter or crack if bent cold. For cold bending applications, we highly recommend Polycarbonate (PC).

Q: Will the bent plastic sheet spring back over time?

A: Yes, all plastics have a degree of “elastic memory.” Our skilled technicians compensate for this spring-back effect by over-bending the material precisely during the press brake process to ensure the final product holds its exact required angle.

Q: What drawings do you accept for custom bending?

A: We accept STP, STEP, DXF, DWG, and PDF formats. If you only have a physical sample, you can ship it to us, and our engineers will create a 3D model for production.
